IDEA Student Ratings of Instruction Background

During the fall of 1968, administrators, students, and faculty members at Kansas State University contributed to a lively debate about the purpose of a "student rating of instruction" program.

At one point or another, an agreed-upon observation was made - Student feedback can provide information to the faculty member which will allow him/her to improve the quality of his/her instruction.

In 2012, IDEA began what would be a three-year process to update the Student Ratings of Instruction instruments, which culminated in a successful pilot of thirteen new and revised items in Spring 2015. The SRI, powered by Campus Labs, our technology partner, was built on an interactive, user-friendly, accessible online platform.
